hopefully the blazers will start closing his practices off to the media so the kid can work in peace. that's going to get old quick.

I think Oden will score about 90 ppg, have about 25 rpg (would have more but he won't miss any shots and therefore will only rebound other players misses) will block anything on the defensive side inside the three point line and will lead the league in steals. I was going to project higher but I want to be realistic.

i think oden will average about to 20+ppg, 12+rpg and a 3bpg. he will become one of the league's most versatile player. like travis said if everyone stays healthy on this team it can make a good run on the championship.

I think Oden will definitely take this team to the next level. My main concern is the amoount of weight he has put on, they need him to be strong and light in order to utilize his speed and quickness and that weight will definitely slow him down. On the upside, Joel Pryzbilla will allow him take his time and work himself into shape as will Rudy Fernandez for Brandon Roy. I think this core of players will be great for a long time if they apply San Antonio Spurs theology: sacrifice minutes and even games to ensure core member returns at full strength, rather than rush him back and jeapardize future seasons and players overall health. Just watch how slowly they'll be bringing Manu along ...

Bottom line....Greg Oden has been an impact player at every level. He is a very unique talent, and a tremendous team player. He averaged around 16ppg 9rpg and nearly 3bpg with a bum right wrist during his only year at Ohio State. Look for about 12ppg 8rpg and 2.5bpg in an often foul troubled 25-28mpg this 08-09 season.

One of the things we love about you is your funny personality don't let the hype and unreasonable expectations burn that out of you. Everything else will come. Keep your chin up and hang in there big guy!

GREG PLEASE READ>>> Hey filter out the media and all the pressure. Just go out there with some confidence and let your game develop. This city has put too much pressure on you and set expectations too high, thats what people do when they don't know squat about basketball. Go out there and bust your a**, get mean, and work on your game as much as you can. The rest doesn't matter. Just your presence in the paint is going to make this team a hell of alot better. You don't need to score to make a huge impact on this game.

If not, what do you think? or anyone else who reads this. GO BLAZERS

it'll be interesting to see what he looks like in 5-on-5, this is good but most 7 footers in the NBA can dunk and throw down lobs unguarded in the half court, I want to see how he plays against defense and how he looks getting up and down the court...but a great start!

I have been a fan since our first game. I rememger the high of our championship, the same year the NBA merged with the ABA. I was there in 77 to watch Walton, and Dr. Jack ramsey's system dismantle Philly's star ridden team. We were getting killed, until Mo. went one on one, with Chocalate thunder, Dr. Dunkenstine. No punches were thrown, but the "enforcer" prevailed That was the turning point in the series. For the first time since then, I have belief. Big market teams usually win out. This team will overcome. Heart of a champion.

P.S. We had Moses Malone, and traded him before the season began, it's not all about talent. Sound familier?

The NBA has a salary cap which generally negates the advantage that big market teams have in other sports. That's one of the great things about the NBA vs. MLB. Who wants to live in NY or LA?

Seth, you're right...it's not all about talent. But it's also not all about heart or desire. Champions generally have a high degree of both. I really believe that Portland now has both.

Oden will change this team at both ends. I can't wait to see him along with the other new players this season.

does anyone know whos training this guy? the last thing we and especially greg wants is to have his potential limited my a mediocre trainer. I mean Chris Paul, Gilbert Arenas, those guys plus Carmelo and a few other hot shots had the same trainer (one guy). Its no secret that the calibre of a trainer correlates with the growth and rate of a players development. What do you guys know about P-town trainers? Isnt it said that players get worse here? In the past maybe but now, i personally dont think so. Bur memories of Kwambe Brown turning into a below average player are troubling. Anyway, go P-town and go Greg. As a trailblazer fan since "77", Let me just say it is a great time for this team once again. The players have become a force in the west and we look forward to the addition of BIG GREG... It is an exciting time to live in Portland and to see the rise of what will soon be a Championship contender.. Hats off to Brandon and the boys... Gonna be huge when Greg is ready,...

I'm sure you know this already, but we're all rooting for you, GO. Take your time and come back healthy - you've got a long and great career ahead of you so there's no need to rush (though we already miss having you out there at times!).

We posed a question on our blog about what pieces of each player, past and present, would make the best Blazer ever. You've been mentioned a few times already! Check out the blog, we're die hard blazer-believers and would make a great addition to the blog roll...

Oden was a norse god his son was thor look it up. He was that god of gods and of all men and things.
They spell it odin. He is a god of war and death along with wisdom and poetry. Sounds like he will fit in with the blazers nicely.

I am actually mostly interested to see if you actually read these? I have been a blazers fan since clyde the glide, and buck williams. (granted im 23 now and I grew up on Blazers). It has been tough seeing the team choke so much, but they are starting to clean up and play well. I know that you will be a strong part of this family.

I have been a Blazers fan since Clyde the glide and Buck williams. The team has choked the last few years but are building back up now. I dont think this is a team of stars, but a family with a good amount of talent that can be played around the court. I can't wait to see you play with the rest of the guys. Do you even see this blog? Thank good luck

Dear Greg,

I was so excited to see you get drafted b y my favorite team in sports. I have been attending Blazers games since I was 7 years old (I am 38)and now my 12 year old son sports the red and black. We go see the blazers play the clippers once a year and will see Boston vs. Blazers in Portland this month with my Father (3 generations of Blazer fan). We live in San Diego, Ca so don't get the luxery of goin to any more games but just know we all are pulling for you and we may not even be in Portland. Have a great rehab and know the inside is yours next year.... I hope you enjoy my hometown and find happiness there. Best Wishes

Hey Greg, I am glad to hear you are doing well with rehab. I am looking forward to watching you play next year. My buddies and I love to wach the Blazers when we can, but living out here in Pendleton makes it hard as we do not get alot of televised games.Tell Brandon I said GO DAWGS.Continue to scout those opponents. Good luck with the rest of your rehab. Larry in Pendleton

Gregg I hope you don't swat me too hard and make me look like a fool. I don't think I could handle a new dominant force in the NBA.

What up G-MAN? Man i gotta give it up to you! You got class! Our team is better than ever. I never lost faith but was getting close before roy showed up. Then we landed you and i was extatic! I know your presence on the floor in the '08-'09 season is going to be unbelievable. I have been watching highlights of you at ohio st. and preseason with our blazers trying not to get too down and realize what we have going for our team, state and city. Im tired of the officials picking on priz. With you clogging up that lane and blocking shots, i see us going far in the playoffs. Welcome big guy! -Brad Mack salem, OR

Hey Greg,
Best of luck with your rehab. There are so many people who are happy that you are a trailblazer! We love you man! It'll be so fun for us (and you) to see you on the court.

Portland is the absolute weakest market in the NBA. We are treated unfairly and no one does anything. They never get good games on espn. Unless they have won thirteen in a row. Why can't Oregon residents see the blazers on tv????I don't want a reason I want a soultion. Even nba league pass doesn't play portland games.wtf!!!!

We've been waiting a long time for a dominating character like yourself to come along Greg. What's another year or two? The main thing now is heal up right. You've got a long life ahead of you, and not just basketball.

Good luck Greg on your recovery. I am so excited for the big things that will happen next year. With you in the lineup, the team will be even that much better. I watched you on Rome Is Burning and you talked about your Dog. I also watched the video of you and Mike Conley playing Eric Gordon in high school, you are the man!!!! Go Blazers, Rip City is back!!!!
